Killarney’s Kart Track awoke to perfect, flowery Cape pre-spring’s day for the sixth round of the WP championship, but the racing was far from flowery as it delivered drama, upsets and dominant performances and then some…
Joseph Oelz (Zanardi) was in fine form from the get go putting his 63 machine on pole position for heat 1. The perfect lap was needed and Oelz delivered when the pressure was on to out qualify his closest rivals in the form of Charl Visser, Troy Dolinshek and Tate Bishop.
Race 1 was somewhat more difficult with the lead changing a number of times as usual. Oelz eventually came home in a hard fought 3rd to add yet another podium to his impressive career stats and claim fastest lap too. Race 2 was again a dog fight and some tough luck saw Joseph cross the line in 4th. Some respite in the fact that he was once again the fastest man out on track and would start the 3rd and final race of the day on the front row.
Oelz continues to show his raw pace in the final race and earned himself a fine 3rd place to tie for second place overall on the day. A solid effort in what was a tough day at the office for young Oelz.
