Joseph Oelz added another Western Province title to his cabinet after claiming the WP Junior Max Championship for 2018. A regional year of many ups and a few downs for Oelz, who after opening up a substantial championship lead in the early part of the season, was never really challenged and went on to take the coveted prize somewhat comfortably.
Contributing to his championship success where no less than 11 fastest laps, 8 race victories and 3 overall wins throughout the season. Quite an astonishing and dominant effort from this talented young racing driver. Joseph showed immense maturity and remained calm when things didn’t quite go his way as he rose above all that is not racing to keep it together to the end.
Oelz would like to thank his father for all the hours of dedication to his 2018 success and his fellow competitors for pushing him to the limits he reached this year.
As Oelz continues to make his mark as one of the fastest and most talented drivers of the current Western Cape crop, he will no doubt take a lot of confidence into the 2019 season having claimed the 2018 Championship in his first year competing in the class. The kind of performance we have witnessed from many top Formula 1 drivers who managed the same sort of feat during their respective karting years.
We are all very excited as to what 2019 has in store for Joseph Oelz.
